  12.            This  file,  REGISTER.TXT,  contains  the  E! license agreement,
  13.       and   gives   you   information   on   registering   E!.  The  actual
  14.       registration form is at the end of the file.

  16.            You  can  print this file by COPYing it to your printer with the

  21.            The  file  already  contains  form  feeds  and  page footers, so
  22.       attempting  to  print  it  with  a program that formats the pages may
  23.       not  work.  Page  length  has been set to 58 lines so the file should
  24.       print properly on laser printers.

  60.       Registration Information

  62.            E!  is  a copyrighted program protected by both U.S., France and
  63.       international  copyright  law.  If  you  obtained E! from a shareware
  64.       disk  vendor,  an  on-line  computer  service  or  bulletin  board, a
  65.       friend   or  colleague,  or  another  similar  source,  you  have  an
  66.       unregistered  (trial)  copy.  You  are  authorized  to  use this copy
  67.       without  charge  for  a limited period of time under the terms of the
  68.       E!  license  agreement.  After this time is up, you must register and
  69.       pay for E! to continue using it.
  70.  
  71.            This  method  of  distribution  is known as shareware. It allows
  72.       you to determine whether E! meets your needs before you pay for it.

  89.            The  registration  fee  for  a  single  copy  of  E!  is US $60.
  90.       Payment of this fee entitles you to :

  92.            *  A  disk  with  the  latest  version of E!, registered to

  95.            *  A  free  upgrade  to  the  latest  version of E!. Future
  96.              upgrades  will  be  available for downloading from a wide
  97.              variety  of  sources;  if  you  do not have a modem there
  98.              will  be  a  minimal  processing  charge  ($10  including
  99.              shipping)  to  obtain  an  upgrade  on diskette. THE FREE
  100.              UPGRADE  WILL  NOT BE SENT AUTOMATICALLY. This allows you
  101.              to  choose  the  date  of  the  upgrade.  Please  use the
  102.              special  order  form  at  the  end  of this file to order
  103.              your free upgrade.

  118.            If  you  are  satisfied  with your current version of E! you may
  119.       also  register  for  $45. This doesn't entitle you for any newer copy
  120.       of  E!.  You'll just receive a registration code by mail enabling you
  121.       to   patch   your   current   version  of  E!  (this  will  make  the
  122.       registration  screen  disappear  when  loading  E!  and will register
  123.       your copy of E!).

  125.            You  can  also  register  for  $100 and benefit from our upgrade
  126.       plan,  that  is,  receive  every  update  of E! during one year. This
  127.       entitles  you  for  immediate  fixing  of  technical problems you may
  128.       have  using  E!  (if they are related to E!) instead of waiting for a
  129.       next release.

  178.            (1)  Copyright:  The  E!  program  and  all  other  programs and
  179.       documentation  distributed  or  shipped with it are Copyright Patrick
  180.       Philippot,  1988,  1989,  1990, and are protected by U.S., France and
  181.       international  copyright  law.  In  the  rest  of this document, this
  182.       collection  of  programs  is  referred  to  simply  as  "E!". You are
  183.       granted  a  license  to  use your copy of E! only under the terms and
  184.       conditions specified in this license agreement.

  186.            (2)  Shareware  Copies:  Shareware  copies of E! are distributed
  187.       to  allow  you  to  try  the  program before you pay for it. They are
  188.       Copyright  1989,  1990,  Patrick  Philippot  and  do  not  constitute
  189.       "free"  or  "public domain" software. You may use a shareware copy of
  190.       E!  at  no charge for a trial period of up to 21 days. If you wish to
  191.       continue  using  E! after that period, you must purchase a registered
  192.       copy.  If  you  choose  not  to  purchase a registered copy, you must
  193.       stop  using  E!,  though  you  may keep copies and pass them along to
  194.       others.

  196.            (3)  Registered  Copies:  A  SHAREWARE  copy  of  E!  becomes  a
  197.       REGISTERED  copy  once  you  have  patched the main program using the
  198.       E!PATCH   program   and  the  REGISTRATION  CODE  you  obtained  when
  199.       registering.  Your  registered  copy  of  E!  may only be used on the
  200.       number of computers for which you pay a registration fee.

  202.            (4)  Use  of One Copy on Two Computers: If you have a registered
  203.       copy  of  E!  which is licensed for use on a single computer, you may
  204.       install  it  on  two  computers  used at two different locations (for
  205.       example,  at  work  and  at  home),  provided there is no possibility
  206.       that  the  two  computers  will  be  in  use  at  the  same time, and
  207.       provided   that  you  yourself  have  purchased  E!,  or  if  E!  was
  208.       purchased  by  your  employer, that you have your employer's explicit
  209.       permission  to  install  E!  on  two  systems  as  described  in this
  210.       paragraph.  The  right  to  install  one registered copy of E! on two
  211.       computers  is  extended to developers working with two machines : one
  212.       main  computer  and  one  computer  used as a debugging terminal. The
  213.       right  to  install  one  copy  of  E!  on two computers is limited to
  214.       copies  originally  licensed  for  use  on a single computer, and may
  215.       not  be  used  to  expand  the  number  of  systems  covered  under a
  216.       multi-system license.

  218.            (5)  Use  of E! on Networks or Multiple Systems: You may install
  219.       your  registered  copy  of E! on a computer attached to a network, or
  220.       remove  it  from  one  computer  and  install  it on a different one,
  221.       provided  there  is  no  possibility  that  your copy will be used by
  222.       more  users  than  it  is  licensed  for.  A "user" is defined as one
  223.       keyboard  which  is connected to a computer on which E! is installed,
  224.       regardless  of  whether  or  not the user of the keyboard is aware of
  225.       the installation or use of E! in the system.

  227.            (6)  Making  Copies:  You  may copy any version of E! for normal
  228.       backup  purposes,  and  you  may give copies of the shareware version
  229.       to  other  individuals,  which  they may also use and copy subject to

  234.       the  terms  of  this  agreement. If you copy the shareware version of
  235.       E!  for  others,  you  must include all of the files distributed with
  236.       it,  including  this  one.  You may not give copies of the registered
  237.       version  to  any  other  person  for  any  purpose  without  explicit
  238.       written permission from the author.

  240.            (7)  Distribution  Restrictions: You may NOT distribute E! other
  241.       than  through  individual  copies  of the shareware version passed to
  242.       friends  and  associates  for their individual use. Specifically, you
  243.       may  not  place E! or any part of the E! package in any user group or
  244.       commercial  library,  or  distribute  it with any other product or as
  245.       an  incentive  to purchase any other product, without express written
  246.       permission  from  the  author,  and you may not distribute for a fee,
  247.       or  in  any  way  sell  copies  of  E! or any part of the E! package.
  248.       Though,  you  may  distribute any application using the E! API and/or
  249.       compiled  using  the  API.PAS,  API.C  or API.H source files. You may
  250.       also freely distribute E! add-in applications you developed yourself.

  252.            (8)  Use  of  E!: E! is a powerful program. While the author has
  253.       attempted  to  build  in  reasonable safeguards, if you do not use E!
  254.       properly  you  may  destroy  files  or  cause  other  damage  to your
  255.       computer  software  and  data. You assume full responsibility for the
  256.       selection and use of E! to achieve your intended results.

  258.            (8)   LIMITED   WARRANTY:   The  author  warrant  to  owners  of
  259.       registered   copies   of   E!  that  the  software  will  operate  in
  260.       accordance  with  the  description  given  in  the documentation, and
  261.       that  the  diskette  will be free of physical defects which interfere
  262.       with normal use.
